Shrink Belly Fat Tips
80Belly Fat Is almost An Epidemic
It is an unfortunate fact that excess abdominal fat plagues a very high proportion of adults. People often try very hard to get rid of it but it does tend to be rather stubborn. Once it has built up it can be difficult to get off again.
A very worrying trend is that a lot of children now have excess stomach fat. This can have serious consequences for the as they reach adulthood. Of course some kids have a bit of puppy fat which they lose as they grow but today there is a far more serious problem. It is awful to see children who are so overweight that they cannot run around and play the way children should. You have to wonder what they are going to look like as adults and what their health prospects are.
So Why Is It So Important To Shrink Belly Fat?
- Its ugly. No two ways about it. A layer of wobbling flab around the mid-section never made anyone look sexy.
- It ruins our self image. We worry about it endlessly.
- The most important reason of all - it is a serious threat to our health.
The Health Risks
Having Excess Abdominal Fat has Been Linked To Numerous Serious Conditions Including
- diabetes
- heart disease
- certain types of cancers
- stroke
- sleep apnea
- high blood pressure
- other degenerative diseases
That's a pretty scary list as it stands and no doubt there are associations to other health problems which have just not been discovered yet.
How Do You Get Rid Of Belly Fat?
The basic answer to this is very simple - diet and exercise. No great secret there.
However it needs to be a diet and exercise program which is designed to rid you of belly fat. Just going hell for leather at the gym twice a week and half starving yourself will not work - in fact you will increase your weight in the long run.
Fresh Unprocessed Food Is Best
What Is The Right Diet?
Contrary to what some 'miracle diets' try to tell you it is not necessary to have a highly restricted diet nor to cut right down on fat in order to get a leaner body. This is complete hogwash and is in fact quite dangerous. You will certainly not lose weight permanently with any of these half baked methods. They rely on you losing some weight quickly, being happy about it and telling others how great it is. Unfortunately what you will find is that after a while you start to gain weight again and find it extremely difficult to remove it.
The reason for this is that you will have messed your metabolism about. Your body will think you are short of food and will gradually slow your metabolism down to save you from starvation. So when you eat normally again you pile on the weight because your body is in 'food storage' mode.
The right diet is a sensible diet which mainly consists of
- Lean protein from organic meat. Factory farmed meat pumped full of antibiotics and hormones is not what your body needs. Obviously if you are vegetarian this is not an issue as your protein will be naturally lean.
- Tons of fresh fruit and vegetables. Make them organic if you can. The body can do without having to digest pesticides.
- No ready meals or highly processed foods. They contain too much salt and sugar and the nutritional value is processed out of them.
- Ditto 'junk food'. Eating this stuff just makes your hunger come back quickly as your body does not get the nutrients it needs and so it triggers your hunger mechanism again.
- Avoid all artificial sweeteners - they mess with the appetite control mechanism in your brain. A book could be written about their numerous harmful effects.
- Eat from all of the main food groups including fats.
- Make sure the fats you eat are the 'good' and not the 'bad' fats. The good fats are very beneficial and will help you in your quest to lose the flab. More detail on good and bad fats.
And Yes, You Do Have To Exercise
If you really want to get in shape then you absolutely must exercise regularly. If you do not only will you lose fat but you will feel so much better mentally and physically. You will notice a difference in your skin, too.
Fat Burning Exercises - Some Guidelines
- Exercise regularly - daily if possible.
- At least 4 times a week make it vigorous exercise as this stimulates your metabolism really well.
- Don't concentrate on your abs - you need to exercise your whole body. This actually gets much better results in the abdominal area.
- Try to include swimming if you can - this is excellent training for every area of the body as well as your heart and lungs. Great for the tummy muscles!
- If you have not exercised for a while build up gradually. Going at it too hard and ending up with pulled muscles will only delay your progress.
